Korean summer tips and my summer routine!

Summer is finally here! Love the warmer and more humid air which for me makes the skin care routine a little shorter than usual. But, it can also mean some new skin care challenges! I have therefore collected 5 common skin problems you may encounter in the summer and solutions for this! At the bottom is my summer routine and I describe as always also in which steps I use what and some extra tips and tricks! :) Hope you will like!

Problem 1. Moisture loss!

During the summer we wear lighter clothes and drink more water to cool our body. Remember to give the same opportunity to your skin!

You can compare the summer a bit with a sauna, the moisture in the air combined with the heat opens up the pores so that the skin becomes more susceptible to impurities and oils in the air. It can help develop blisters, acne or eczema.

When we sweat, the skin loses a lot of moisture, which can result in dry and irritated skin where the outer layer of the skin becomes weakened = the skin can not protect itself optimally from, among other things, UV rays. Moisture loss also disturbs oil and water balance In the skin = acne, increased sebum production.

Solution suggestion: Of course you should drink a lot of water, but also be sure to use products that provide good hydration and that protect the skin barriers so that it in turn can do its important job! One ingredient that is good to look for to accomplish this is glycerin. This is because it locks moisture into the skin. In my summer routine further down, there are several products with glycerin in them, such as CICAPRO ™ Refresh light cream which both moisturizes and protects. So even though it is hot and humid, it is important to moisturize the skin, regardless of skin type. Use thin textures to moisturize rather than thick in the summer. For example, klairs unscented supple preparatiom facial toner, klairs fundamental ampoule mist, hyggee all in one mist or essences such as dr ceuracle tea tree essence, make prem safe me relief essence! Feel free to use them in several layers. This is called the 7-skin method and it means using the toner to build up a moisture barrier and nutrition with several layers to get that natural glow from within. With the help of the thinner toner, the moisture level in the skin increases more effectively without the heaviness from thicker creams or oils, as the toner / essence sinks more easily and faster into the skin. It is also a way that works for all skin types and it provides moisture and restores the pH value while giving a glow and firmer skin. Problem 2. Dead skin cells.

If it is hot in combination with drier air, the skin can easily build up a barrier of dead skin cells due to dryness = clogged pores and blemishes and dull skin.

Solution: Mild exfoliation and moisturizing immediately after. Dr. Ceuracle tea tree toner is perfect for this! It helps to exfoliate the skin in a very gentle way to get rid of dead skin cells so that new ones can appear. It also helps the skin to better absorb subsequent products.

Problem 3. Premature aging of the skin and wrinkles.

UV rays are the biggest culprit when it comes to aging skin!

Solution: Use sunscreen! Spf 40 at least PA ++ for both UVA and UVB protection. Dr ceuracle cica regen anti dust sungel has spf 50+ and PA ++++ which provides good protection against both UVA and UVB.

Also feel free to use a serum and cream that builds up, strengthens and soothes the skin. Centella asiatika is an ingredient that both soothes and strengthens the skin, so feel free to look for it in the ingredient list! Klairs midnight blue calming cream (included in my summer routine😊) contains this wonderful ingredient and is perfect for cooling and soothing the skin after hot summer days. Other ingredients that work to strengthen the skin and increase collagen and elasticity in the skin are the peptides EGF and bFGF. Klairs midnight blue youth activating drops contain both of these peptides and are perfect to use in their evening routine in the summer.

Problem 4. Oily skin and increased sebum production which can contribute to blocked pores and glossy skin.

If the skin temperature increases by only 1 degree, sebum production can increase by 10%!

Solution: A good cleaning routine that balances oil and sebum production!

The Korean double wash

Step 1. Oil-based cleaning. To remove all oil-based makeup, sunscreen and impurities, start with an oil cleanser. It is good to start with because water repels oil. Pump out some oil and massage your face with gentle, upward circular motions. Then add water to the face and massage again (if the oil now looks milky, you are doing the right thing). Rinse with lukewarm water. This helps to balance the oil level in the skin so that there is no overproduction (just as fat dissolves fat dissolves oil oil). Tex Klairs gentle black cleansing oil is perfect for this step.

Step 2. Water-based cleaning. Considering that you can get more oily skin in the summer, it is good to look for a charcoal in the ingredient list. This is because carbon helps to remove excess oil because carbon pulls out impurities and sebum excess from the skin, a bit like a magnet! It also has slightly depressing properties and helps to produce clear and clean skin. Coal has been used for this purpose for a long time in Asia and you can see it more and more in Western products even nowadays. I obviously have such a product in my summer routine and it is klairs charcoil soap :)

Problem 5.Pigmentation / brown spots from the sun.

These appear due to the UV rays from the sun which are extra strong in the summer.

Solution! Sunscreen that is replenished several times during the day. The sun protection must protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Spf 40 at least PA ++ for both UVA and UVB protection. Dr ceuracle cica regen anti dust sungel has spf 50+ and PA ++++ which provides good protection against both UVA and UVB.

Other things to look for in the ingredient list are, antioxidants. One of the most powerful antioxidants is vitamin C! It should (in its purest form) be used in the evening for best effect because it is very sensitive to light and sun and helps to develop new skin cells that are a little more sensitive to the sun. When I write vitamin c for pigmentation, I mean "ascorbic acid" (also known as "L-ascorbic acid" or LAA) vitamin C in its purest form! Vitamin C is available in many different forms and some are better suited for daytime than this form.

Why is vitamin c (L-ascorbic acid) so good against pigmentation / brown spots then?

Yes! Vitamin C whitens / reduces hyperpigmentation! Age spots, acne spots or even sun spots that occur when melanin is overproduced. Applying vitamin C has been shown to prevent / reduce the production of melanin, which then also prevents pigmentation.

Vitamin C is known to protect the skin from the sun's UVA and UVB rays. Thanks to its strong antioxidant properties, it helps to strengthen the skin. Vitamin C also helps the skin to heal faster and relieves irritation and itching when used in the evening.

In addition, vitamin C increases the turnover of cells, which helps the skin to recover in, for example, wound healing. The anti-inflammatory properties prevent redness and inflammation and also burns from the sun.

Of course I therefore have a mild vitamin c serum in my summer routine! :) Klairs freshly juiced vitamin drops with only 5% ascorbic acid.

When using vitamin C in the evening, be sure to clean your face thoroughly in the morning and be extremely careful with sunscreen during the day as vitamin C has a mild exfoliating effect.

Eat a lot of vitamins as well, Kiwi is super good for example :)

SUMMER ROUTINE

So with the solid background on common summer skin care problems, now comes my summer routine divided into a morning - and evening routine! :)

MORGONRUTIN

In the summer, it becomes extra important for me to run a double cleanser morning and evening because the more humid air means that I get more oil in the skin and need to balance it with the help of an oil cleanser.

Double cleaning
Step 1. Klairs gentle black cleansing oil. Massage on dry face, add a little lukewarm water and massage until it becomes a milky white consistency, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Oil-based cleaning. Oil dissolves oil, which means that an oil-based wash balances the oil in the skin so that there is no overproduction.

Step 2. Klairs charcoal soap. As my skin becomes more oily in the summer, I want a cleanser with charcoal in it. This is because it helps to remove excess oil because charcoal pulls out impurities and sebum excess from the skin, a bit like a magnet!

Klairs Supple Preparation facial Toner that contains glycerin, which locks in moisture in the skin. I use this in about 3 layers (let it sink in between the layers for about 30 sec-1 min before the next layer). Use: 1. After cleansing, pour a few drops of toner on a cotton swab and gently wipe the entire face. Then pour a few drops in the palm of your hand and work up a heat by quickly pulling your palms towards each other, massaging and then patting the toner all over your face. When the toner dries and sinks into the skin, pour a few more drops in the palm of your hand and continue for up to another 6 rounds. CICAPRO ™ Refresh light Cream. I use a very light moisturizer with a thin texture in the summer, which does not clog. This also contains glycation to lock in moisture (which you easily lose when sweating).
Klairs eye awakening gel
By wishtrend propolis ampoule. This is full of antioxidants which together with the sunscreen in step 6 provides optimal protection against oxidation and premature aging from free radicals such as the sun's UV rays.
Sunscreen, Dr ceuracle Cica regen anti dust sun gel with spf 50 which protects against both UVB and UVA with PA ++++. This is an all-in-one product for moisture, nutrition and sun protection in one product! Ingredients such as Actinidia Argute (Kiwi) extract gives the skin anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties while protecting the skin from external contaminants such as dust and dirt. The light texture sinks quickly into the skin, without any white surface and with long-lasting moisturizing. It also contains 1.51% pure Centella Complex which quickly soothes and repairs damaged and sensitive skin.
Klairs illuminating supple blemish Cream. This bb-Cream sinks easily into the skin, covers redness and pores, has spf 40, also contains hyaluronic acid which moisturizes.

EVENING ROUTINE

The Korean double wash.
Step 1. Klairs gentle black deep cleansing oil. Massage on dry face, add a little lukewarm water and massage until it becomes a milky white consistency, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. 1-2 days / week Dr ceuracle tea tree purifine 70 tones soothes and dissolves oil and dirt inside the pores with the help of BHA and tea tree and thus prevents the build-up of dead skin cells and clogged pores as well as dull skin. However, be careful with sunscreen as it contains a small amount of BHA! When I am not using step 2, I use this step in the evening.

It has an anti-inflammatory effect with ingredients such as green tea, ginger and licorice which also balance the skin's sebum production. Peppermint oil and lavender soothe and cool sensitive skin, while Vitamin E derivatives and sodium hyaluronate (ingredient from hyaluronic acid) have a deep moisturizing and smoothing effect on the skin. Suitable for all skin types, especially oily skin (which many get in the summer).

5. Klairs midnight blue youth activating drops. This along with step 4, klairs vitamin c serum boosts each other. These two together increase the collagen in the skin, increase elasticity, reduce and prevent wrinkles and fine lines,
